The TWJPC Footpath Group is a volunteer sub-committee of The Wolfords Joint Parish Council (TWJPC), led by a nominated TWJPC Councillor.
This group facilitates the monitoring/inspection, minor maintenance and use of the public rights of way (PROW) network within The Wolfords (the parishes of Great and Little Wolford), in partnership with Warwickshire County Council, local highways authorities, Cotswold Wardens and local landowners.
The Footpath Group is open to interested Wolfords residents, including walkers and dog owners.
The Footpath Group meets at agreed intervals (e.g. quarterly) to discuss survey results and plan work parties.
Purpose & Objectives of the Footpath Group:
- To monitor and help improve access to the local PROW network (footpaths) in The Wolfords.
- To walk all local footpaths regularly (e.g., at least once a year) to survey their condition and report problems such as obstructions, broken stiles or damaged/missing signage.
- To facilitate, support, co-ordinate or assist with minor maintenance (vegetation clearance, waymarking).
- To report any issues to the relevant landowner or Rights of Way team (e.g. at Warwickshire County Council, Cotswold NL, etc).
- To promote public awareness and the use of local paths by residents and visitors; to organise regular (e.g. quarterly) walks along the local footpaths, enabling local residents and families to partake in the enjoyment of the footpaths.
- To organise workdays (subject to the availability of volunteers) to undertake minor maintenance projects – for example: assisting with clearance of vegetation, such as blackthorn and bramble; helping with the removal of obstacles, such as fallen branches; assisting with maintenance/repairs of signage.
